Learn to Read Bodies

Topics include:

  • Injury Management
  • Body reading
  • Hands on Adjustments
  • Improve your confidence as a teacher by refining your touch skills and learn to observe the unique individual's imprint in each posture.
  • Learn how to better assess body language by using the basic techniques of applying safe and practical hands-on adjustments as well as verbal and energetic adjustments.
  • By focusing on how the poses work on different body types, you will learn how to assist and support others as you improve your own practice and in the process and gain an understanding of how your body works.

As yoga teachers we are sought-after healers and our students will come to us when they are in pain. It’s important to recognize we may have the tools to help with the pain and minimize the symptoms but we are not healthcare practitioners and shouldn’t diagnose. We can help our students to make appropriate adjustments to protect and/or strengthen weaker or vulnerable places in their bodies. It is important to understand correct alignment, how to use props to support postures, and offer modifications to prevent injuries. As we improve our knowledge as teachers on how to read bodies and give adjustments, we can meet student's individual needs.

Topics we will explore

We will slowly climb up each platform of the body and refine each section to create stability and support vulnerable places like the knees, lower back, shoulders, and neck. Deepen your understanding of anatomy and the nervous system and how you can create practices to support the deeper muscles that support your skeleton and enhance the relaxation response.

Each morning will open up with a workshop style practice focusing on a specific platform, followed by discussion and theory, and ending the day with a hands on adjustment clinic and restorative yoga.
