Clean out a corner of your mind

Some of us are too busy, too busy, too busy, too busy, never a gap...to take a break.

But even then we can give ourselves a break—a thousand breaks. When you come to a stoplight, don't fill the gap by checking your phone. When your friend or colleague goes to the bathroom at lunch, don't fill the gap by checking your phone. Walk, don't walk and text. Do one thing fully, at a time. At times, allow gaps.

Gaps are more efficient than efficiency, because they allow space for innovation, ideas, inspiration, insight—without which you're just a ball of macho burnout.
