30 Hour Liquid Flow Yoga Training and Immersion with Simon Park

“ How do you move a room of students, irrelevant of backgrounds, pulsing organically together, in one energetic ocean that keeps feeding upon itself? How do you experience a deep stillness like after surfing a long, perfect wave? “
- Gwyn Williams founder of Zenthai Shiatsu

As a yoga teacher, we aim to become a master of our craft. There are so many aspects of this.. the physical embodiment, honoring tradition, expressing our unique creativity, and the ability to see our students' limitations and great potential.

This lifelong practice sometimes seems like a long path of learning and doing.

When and how do we start to Be what we practice?

The premise is that we do this by creating space in our own practice.

  • Slowing down. Learning to listen, to wait, to tune in.
  • Honoring where you are now, not forcing, being mindful of challenges.
  • Practicing consciously.. linking body, breath and mind.

What are the elements in orchestrating a seemingly perfect sequence, with or without music.. and the pauses? The capacity to see all the students and their potential.. and to adapt accordingly? How do you experience timeless stillness inside of movement?

In this “ Teacher’s Un-training ”, we will explore the attitudinal foundations, skills and practices to experience this spacious awareness as teachers, on our yoga mats, in meditation and throughout our lives.

This course will explore

  • Alignment and Key Actions: Explore physical alignment and energetic key actions inside foundational to advanced poses, moving toward more ease and fluidity in yoga and daily movement.
  • Creative Sequencing: Wave sequencing for organically progressing toward complexity without pushing the agenda of a practice.
  • Verbal Cues: Simple and effective instructions that speak to the body, mind and heart.
  • Refined Hands-On Assists: Make assists that are informative, supportive, sensitive, and empowering.
  • Therapeutic Approach: Address injuries, creating a safe and healing practice for all levels.
  • Pranayama: Use pranayama as a gateway to the subtle body, introducing breath and energy nuances.
  • Mindfulness Meditation: Learn the basic principles and practice of mindfulness meditation for health and well-being.
  • Healing Arts Integration: Zenthai Shiatsu, a practice of ‘focused intention’ - a combination of traditional Thai Massage, Shiatsu and Osteopathy as a modality that is complementary to your teaching and practice.

Develop dynamic actions

A ‘gap’ between one note and the other is what creates beautiful music. Without it, it is simply useless noise. It could be aptly called ‘ God’s Gap ‘. We take nothing with us except the light consciousness that floods our being. The less things we have to worry about, the more this light can flood our being each day.
- Gwyn Williams

Vinyasa Flow Yoga has a powerful potential to be complete practice: therapeutic and energizing for the body/mind, a wonderful way to express your creativity, and a philosophy for spiritual growth. We will begin with the practice of embodiment: a yoga practice that is fluid, dynamic, and informative. Learn essential teaching skills to transmit the learning from our own experience in a creative and compelling way to your students. Built on a foundation of Yoga as a healing practice, learn tools such as constructing a compelling class with peak pose sequencing, reading and assessing bodies, educating students with hands on assists, precise verbal instruction, and introducing ideas that inspire. The aim is make the practice of our students more effortless, joyful, alive, and meaningful.

Gain a better understanding of the physical and energetic principles from the Ashtanga, Iyengar, and modern Vinyasa Yoga systems. We will examine how the universal principles and the unique wisdom of each style can greatly enhance our overall understanding of balance and energy flow in our body/mind system. Also, we will discuss how to find and embrace a yoga practice that complements our lives and our students' lives. Learn to develop yoga classes and privates for diverse backgrounds and different levels, integrating a deeper understanding of alignment to help your students safely grow in their practice.

Explore the inner journey of the physical practice. Creating space for self exploration is perhaps one of the difficult and suble aspects of teaching Yoga. This skill may be one of the most important; allowing students to pass from a purely physical space toward self inquiry and growth. You may simply wish to deepen your personal practice or teach Yoga for the rest of your life. Your background, your reasons for practice and the special way you view the world will mold your unique vision of Yoga. Allow your creativity to flow and stoke your passion for Yoga. Become dedicated to moving away from scripted teaching toward creative artistry… the process of becoming absolutely present with your students.

Be an Original.. Awaken the Inner Artist, Teacher and Impassioned Being.
