This workshop consists of two parts: a theoretical/philosophical part (1 hour) and a practical part (Vinyasa practice) (2 hours).
In the first part, we will explore the first four limbs of Ashtanga yoga: Yama (Ethical disciplines), Niyama (Self-observation), Asana (Postures) and Pranayama (Breath control). We will see how Yama and Niyama benefit you not only on but also off the yoga mat. We will also learn about the healing potential of the first series of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, known in Sanskrit as “Yoga Chikitsa”, which means yoga therapy. Essentially, it is a healing process of cleansing and toning for the body, mind and senses. Moreover, concepts such as Prana, Nadis, Drishti, Ujjayi Breath and Bandhas will be discussed, which allow you to get more out of your practice.
In the second part, we will practice sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga together and put emphasis on a correct, safe and sustainable way of practicing. We will also explore details of Surya Namaskara A+B (Sun Salutations), the most ancient aspect of yoga we practice today, as well as Vinyasa (jump-back and jump-through) and some key asanas. This will be the perfect opportunity to ask all the questions you always wanted to ask regarding your practice and get support and adjustments.
In this workshop, you will get a broader and more holistic picture of yoga, including philosophical and therapeutical aspects, as well as you will be able to deepen the understanding of your own yoga practice.
