Many of us are unable to rest or find comfort in stillness and meditation, because we have very hectic lives. Starting with an active vinyasa flow brings the movement our bodies need and the familiar postures we associate with a physical yoga practice. This prepares us for the second half of the class consisting of passive, resting poses that we hold for long amounts of time. By staying still and quiet we give our minds and nervous systems a chance to process the stress of life.
A very healing practice, the therapeutic benefits of Restorative Yoga help many conditions such as: anxiety, burnout, depression, chronic pain, reproductive issues, migraines, insomnia and many more. We all need rest, and this is a chance to get the rest you need as well as a dynamic aspect of yoga.
